The Vision
The design was shaped around a desire to create a kitchen that felt timeless, comfortable and naturally at home in the English countryside, while introducing the lightness and simplicity associated with Scandinavian design.
The result is a carefully balanced interior where traditional forms are softened by a natural material palette and generous sense of light.
The Crathorne Ash doors, finished in ‘Latte’ stain, provide a warm and tactile foundation. Their natural grain brings subtle movement to the cabinetry, while the restrained colour keeps the overall atmosphere calm and airy.
Inside, Natural Hamilton Oak continues the timber story, adding another layer of warmth and authenticity to the cabinetry.
A Palette of Warmth and Light
The material palette is deliberately natural and understated.
Warm wood tones dominate the kitchen, with the ‘Latte’ stained ash creating a soft, inviting backdrop. The natural variation of the timber gives the cabinetry character without overwhelming the space.
The Rosa Astrato worktops introduce a luxurious contrast, their refined surface complementing the organic quality of the timber while adding a sense of lightness.
Throughout the room, the palette of natural woods, soft tones and antique brass creates a calming, grounded atmosphere — one that feels connected to both the landscape outside and the character of the home.
Heritage Detail, Scandinavian Simplicity
At the heart of the kitchen stands a Range Master Elise Deluxe cooker in ‘Slate’, combining traditional character with a practical contemporary kitchen environment.
Its antique brass handles echo the hardware used throughout the space, while the ribbed handles available in both long and short designs, introduce subtle texture and refinement to the cabinetry.
Overhead, a corniced extractor fan continues the traditional English aesthetic, adding architectural detail and reinforcing the heritage character of the kitchen.
Yet the lighter timber palette prevents the room from feeling overly formal. Instead, the natural wood introduces a Scandinavian freshness, creating a harmonious balance between classic English design and modern simplicity.
A Layout Designed for Living
The U-shaped layout gives the kitchen an intimate and naturally cosy feel, bringing the main working areas together in a practical arrangement.
At the same time, the open-plan setting allows the room to form part of a larger living environment, cleverly creating two distinct areas from one open space.

At the centre of the space, a generous island with a worktop overhang provides a natural place to pause, sit and gather.

A tongue-and-groove end panel adds a final layer of traditional detailing, giving the island a bespoke quality and reinforcing the handcrafted character of the cabinetry.
