At Corby Croft Interiors, we believe your kitchen should feel completely personal to you. It’s not just about how a space looks, but how it works day to day and how comfortable you feel using it. Your worktop plays a central role in that experience, which is why choosing the right material is such an important part of designing a bespoke kitchen.

When we begin working with clients, we always take time to understand how they live and use their kitchen before suggesting materials. Some households need surfaces that can handle busy family life, others want something softer and more characterful, and some are looking for a statement feature that becomes the focal point of the room. There isn’t one right answer, only what works best for you.

Quartz is one of the materials many clients are drawn to because it combines practicality with a refined finish. In our showroom, we display several quartz surfaces so you can see how they feel within a real kitchen setting rather than just viewing small samples. Designs such as Ferrocorchea, Calacatta Gold and Nera Astartto each create a very different atmosphere, and seeing them in place often helps people imagine how they might look in their own home. Quartz works beautifully for those who want a surface that feels calm, elegant and easy to live with every day.
Marble brings something quite different. It has a softness and natural movement that can’t be replicated, and for many clients it introduces a sense of quiet luxury into a kitchen. Each piece is unique, which is part of its appeal. Marble does ask a little more in return in terms of care, but for those who love its character, that natural ageing becomes part of the story of the home rather than a disadvantage.

Granite is often chosen by people who want the reassurance of strength combined with the beauty of natural stone. It is incredibly durable and well suited to kitchens that see a lot of use. Because every slab is different, granite also adds individuality to a space in a way that feels subtle but distinctive.
Timber worktops bring warmth into a kitchen in a way that stone surfaces cannot. They work especially well in homes where the kitchen is designed to feel relaxed and welcoming. Some clients choose timber across larger areas, while others prefer to introduce it as a preparation block within an island or alongside another surface. This approach keeps the warmth and character of timber while making maintenance more manageable over time.
Metal surfaces can create something more contemporary and architectural. They are often chosen when clients want a kitchen that feels slightly different and more design led. Used thoughtfully, metal can introduce a beautiful contrast within a space and works particularly well as a feature surface rather than across the entire kitchen.

When we design kitchens at Corby Croft Interiors, our aim is always to guide you through these choices in a way that feels clear and enjoyable rather than overwhelming. We want to understand how you use your kitchen, what matters most to you, and what will make the space feel right in your home.
If you are beginning to think about a bespoke kitchen, you are always very welcome to visit our showroom and explore materials in person with one of our designers. Seeing the finishes together often makes the decision feel much easier, and helps you start to picture how your own kitchen could come together.
